Ferry to Stradbroke Island - the Red Cat

Getting to Stradbroke Island
Getting to North Stradbroke Island is quick and easy with frequent car and passenger ferries making the trip between Brisbane’s Cleveland and Dunwich on the west coast of Straddie. The journey takes under an hour (usually 45 to 50 minutes) in normal conditions and bookings are not generally required for foot passengers.

The main companies that provide ferry services are listed below. As a general guide, there is a ferry to Stradbroke Island departing every hour from around 6am until 7pm (earlier on weekends): however, as timetables can be subject to last-minute change, please check with the ferry companies directly to confirm correct departure times before you travel.

Sea Stradbroke
Sea Stradbroke operates the award winning Big Red Cat catamaran service, a modern 49 metre car and passenger ferry complete with it’s own licensed cafe. It can also transport caravans, buses and trailers. It operates all seven days of the week with up to 16 services a day. Frequent visitors to Straddie can earn “Rewards Points” towards free travel.

Stradbroke Ferries
With ten or more services in each direction a day, seven days a week, Stradbroke Ferries also travel between Cleveland on the mainland and Dunwich. Foot passengers can just turn up – no need to book. The company has operated since 1963 and is committed to your safety, comfort and convenience.

Stradbroke Flyer
Providing a service between Cleveland and Straddie 365 days a year, Stradbroke Flyer can also offer charter and tour services for groups on request. They also provide a courtesy bus service to the boat in Cleveland (except Christmas Day). Please call for more information.

The North Stradbroke Island bus service provides a connection between ferries in Dunwich and the main destinations, including Point Lookout and Amity Point. It is of course also possible to take a taxi or arrange a hire car.
