The Island Vibe festival has been held annually on Stradbroke Island since it first began in 2006. It takes place for three days towards the end of October and brings together a selection of bands, DJs and other musical acts from around Australia, the Pacific region and from further afield around the world.
But there is far more to be enjoyed than just the music: the Island Vibe festival features workshops, circus acts, craft markets, exhibitions and more. All ages are welcome to attend and entry is free for children under the age of 12 as long as they are with a paying adult.
The music is diverse although there is an emphasis on reggae, dub, world-music, roots and soul: artists that have appeared in previous years include Natiruts, Sunshine Soundsystem, Katchafire, Ernest Ranglin, The Black Seeds, Lotek and Little Bushman.
The Island Vibe festival is an environmentally responsible event and won a Greener Festival Award 2010. It takes place at Home Beach Park on East Coast Road at Point Lookout – for further information and to book your tickets please visit the official website.
It is advised that you make sure you have your accommodation arranged before you purchase tickets, especially if you wish to use the camp grounds.
